Summary

Tommy and his sister Annika have a new neighbor, and her name is Pippi Longstocking。 She has crazy red pigtails, no parents to tell her what to do, a horse that lives on her porch, and a pet monkey named Mr。 Nilsson。 Whether Pippi’s scrubbing her floors, doing arithmetic, or stirring things up at a fancy tea party, her flair for the outrageous always seems to lead to another adventure。

This is a book I would have enjoyed as a kid, but not much as an adult。 It’s a testament to how old I’m getting, because I could only see Pippi as a brat 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

An excellent read。 It is a witty and cheerful book。 She is such an enjoyable and original character。 No wonder it became a classic。 Every chapter brings another imaginative story。 Designed for children or grown-ups who never stopped dreaming。

This was fun to read aloud to my 5 year old daughter。 We shared many laughs。 While it was fun to read, I did only give it 4 stars because there wasn’t much of a plot。

Sorry, Pippi girl, but you're problematic as fuck。I can't stand this beloved character。 She is annoying, if not a bully, if not cruel。I really didn't appreciate that she walks around slandering/ lying about whole nations of people。And even the revised edition made me cringe。One good thing about her is that she is a good friend to the people she likes。 Pippi is very generous towards her friends。 Though, maybe she's not so generous if all her gold comes from her pirate dad。 Sorry, Pippi girl, but you're problematic as fuck。I can't stand this beloved character。 She is annoying, if not a bully, if not cruel。I really didn't appreciate that she walks around slandering/ lying about whole nations of people。And even the revised edition made me cringe。One good thing about her is that she is a good friend to the people she likes。 Pippi is very generous towards her friends。 Though, maybe she's not so generous if all her gold comes from her pirate dad。 。。。more

4。5 starsFreaking adorable。 I absolutely loved the animated movie growing up and had no idea it followed the book so closely。 I can't even count the times I've watched it。 It was so much fun finally reading the book it was based on。 Each chapter was its own little adventure and they were all so much fun。 Pippi is such a great character。 Totally her own person and completely unique。 I really want to read more books about Pippi! 。。。more

Pippi said。 We live in a free country, don’t we? This quote just makes me laugh。 Her attitude can be seen on it。 Which be used when discussing characters on a story map。 Summary: tThe book covers the story of Pippi Longstocking。 This little girl is not like a regular child。 Pippi was about 9 years old。 She technically lives on her own。 However, she does have the company of her monkey Mr。 Nilsson and her horse。 Other than her pets, she has two friends, Tommy, and Annika, who she plays with every now and then。 With her friends she liked to go “thing-finding”, where they would just go on adventures looking for things。 The adventures of Pippi proof how strong and independent she is。 Pippi was always up for some fun and adventures since she lives by her own rules。 She was proud about being different and strong。 When she saw someone in trouble, she would defend them by sticking rude bullies and policeman in trees。 A quote that can represent more on the book and the main character it would be “He’s the strongest man in the world。 ’Man, yes,’ said Pippi, ‘but I am the strongest girl in the world, remember that。” 。 Pippi can be seen as a strong independent girl who does not like to be told what to do。Connections: A text to text connection I can do for this book is to “Little Dreamers” by Vashti Harrison。 The book is collection of amazing women who have achieved great things。 While Pippi is also an independent woman doing her own things。 Even though, one book is fiction and the other is not, it represents that women can do whatever they want。 We can be adventurers and creative, just like others。 A text to self-connection would be to allow myself to be more adventures。 Sometimes we get to caught up on the “what if”, that we forget to just enjoy life and try new things。 I admire how Pippi liked to be different, it is something I am shy about。 Then a text to society, the best message we can get is: girls can be adventurous too。 To this day society still has in their mind that little girls should play with dolls and kitchens, while boys get to go out and get dirty outside。 This book can motivate children to be more independent and adventurous。 。。。more

I love reading classics from childhood, waiting to see if, and how, they'll engage me as an older reader。 Fortunately, I found "Pippi Longstocking" holds up to modern scrutiny very well。 Pippi's stories (Lindgren wrote a series of books about this heroine。) are classic orphan stories, but each is full of joy, wonder, tall tales, and hilarious antics。 (Pippi's mother died when she was a toddler, and her father fell off his ship and was lost at sea。) She does not lead a life of loneliness or sorro I love reading classics from childhood, waiting to see if, and how, they'll engage me as an older reader。 Fortunately, I found "Pippi Longstocking" holds up to modern scrutiny very well。 Pippi's stories (Lindgren wrote a series of books about this heroine。) are classic orphan stories, but each is full of joy, wonder, tall tales, and hilarious antics。 (Pippi's mother died when she was a toddler, and her father fell off his ship and was lost at sea。) She does not lead a life of loneliness or sorrow and suffering brought 0n by abusive parents -- which is what authors usually explore in modern-day orphan tales。The ABC's of Pippi are quite simple: She is a spirited, individualistic orphan in Appearance, Behavior and Countenance。 Pippi makes her own clothing from scraps, rolls out dough on her kitchen floor to make batches of 500 ginger snap cookies efficiently, enrages the local school teacher, entertains and befriends burglars, and saves neighbors and fire fighters。 And, she shares her contentment with all she meets。Because Pippi is so wildly imaginative and eccentric, and her misadventures are so wonderfully entertaining, this book truly is a classic that defies time。 Readers of all ages can enjoy escaping with Pippi as she creates inventive and outrageous approaches to solving problems and fixing accidents。 Her enviable life is one lived in the woods with her pet monkey, Mr。 Nilsson, and her horse -- a true dream-life for most children。 (Pippi's mother died when she was a toddler, and her father fell off his ship and was lost at sea。) 。。。more

I loved Pippi when I was little。 I wanted a horse to live on my porch and to dump water and soap onto the floor and skate to clean it。 Now that I'm an adult, I didn't enjoy Pippi as much。 But I loved reading it with my 7 year old son。 I loved Pippi when I was little。 I wanted a horse to live on my porch and to dump water and soap onto the floor and skate to clean it。 Now that I'm an adult, I didn't enjoy Pippi as much。 But I loved reading it with my 7 year old son。 。。。more

I had never read this as a kid, but I just finished the audiobook with my kids。 I really enjoyed it! The kids (8, 6, 4) LOVED it。 There were parts that made me laugh out loud, and then parts that were a little over the top。 But overall, it was a lot of fun!
